John Lee

John Lee

In the 8th grade at Alexander Graham Junior High School in Charlotte, I took a shop course. Later on, I went to Princeton and then Duke Medical School, and practiced Neurology for 40 years or so. And now, I’m back to nearly full-time woodworking. I design and make mostly tables and benches but other things too. Many of my pieces include a bit of color and a few curves, just like life.

I am deeply indebted to Penland School of Crafts and to its talented instructors for enhancing my skills and for providing creative inspiration. I have studied at Penland several times and served on the Penland board for eight years.
